Meet Our New Staff Faculty Spotlight Cathy Lovendahl is thrilled to be the new ESOL teacher at the Junior High and the High School as she enters her 35th year of teaching. She has taught 4th and 5th grade in Waterville for 29 years, the last 11 as a Literacy Classroom teacher at the Albert S. Hall School. She taught grades 6-8 ELA in North Carolina for 5 years where she began her ESOL coursework. She has taught many multilingual learners over the years and looks forward to developing meaningful connections with both her students and colleagues. Cathy is also the civil rights coordinator for Waterville and it’s important to her that all people feel safe, welcome and respected in our schools and in our community. She’s married to the librarian at the Hall School and they have a 21 year old daughter in college, 2 cats and a dog. Faculty Spotlight Karyn Lybrook is joining Waterville Senior High School as a Social Worker/School Therapist after working in the high school for a year and a half as a School-Based Clinician through a local mental health agency. She graduated with her Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies in 2006, her Bachelors of Science in Mental Health and Human Services in 2010 and her Masters of Social Work at the University of New England in 2019. Karyn has worked over 20 years within the mental health field working mostly with the emerging adult population. Karyn also owns a part time business creating the homeopathic products she loves. She currently lives in Skowhegan with her husband, four sons (ages 3-19), and her familiar cat, Ebby. When she does get free time she is diligently focused on self-care which includes laughing with her boys, bowling, traveling, driving her Bronco on the back roads, dance, singing, astrology, the Ocean, photography and design. She is through the moon excited to be part of the staff (and their Guidance Dream Team) and to start her first year at her dream job continuing her passion in aiding students in their journey to enhanced mental health. Faculty Spotlight Becky Jenkins is joining Waterville Senior High School as a Special Education teacher. She graduated in 2000 from American International College in Springfield, MA with a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics and also in 2004 with a Masters in Special Education. She began teaching in 2001. She is married and has a 15 year old daughter. Together they have 2 cats and a "crazy" German Shepherd! When not teaching, she likes to spend time with her family, bake, craft, and watch movies. She is excited to join the Waterville Senior High School community! Faculty Spotlight Amanda Veilleux has joined Waterville Senior High School this year as an Ed Tech III covering study halls and supporting students. This is Amanda’s 9th year working in the Waterville Public Schools. Amanda grew up in Massachusetts, graduated from Northeastern University, and moved to Maine 10 years ago. She is excited to be a part of the family and looks forward to getting to know the staff and students. Faculty Spotlight Melissa Magee is joining Waterville Senior High School after having worked with individuals with Intellectual disabilities in home, communities, and in school settings for over the past 8 years.
